Wellness & Exercise for Seniors

Stay fit, build strength, and prolong your independence with our fitness program specially designed for seniors. With one-on-one fitness instruction, exercise classes, and education sessions, you'll have all the tools and guidance you need to lead a healthy and active lifestyle.

Our fitness trainers work hand-in-hand with residents' physicians to design a personalized fitness program to meet the abilities of each participant. Best of all, this incredible program is available to our residents at no extra cost!

"I know I am stronger, have better balance and am healthier because of my participation in the program."

~ E. Stephens, Fellowship Square Resident

Using state-of-the-art technology to improve mobility & maintain independence

Our fitness specialists use state-of-the-art technology to develop each participant's fitness plan. KAMS Independent Living functional movement screen, by Kinetisense, incorporates motion capture technology and advanced machine learning to power the assessment tool. This 5-minute assessment provides information on the individual's gait, balance, and functional movements, including any deficiencies in their range of motion that may indicate a fall risk.

Using the data gathered from the KAMS screening, our fitness specialists create a tailored exercise plan for each resident. Fellowship Square is the only senior living community in Arizona that utilizes this technology in its exercise and wellness program.

The feedback from residents who have participated has been encouraging, and they have seen considerable improvement in their endurance and mobility.

"I play nine holes of golf almost every week. At 86 years old, I do not hit the golf ball as far or as well as I used to. Mark used the Kinetisense program to help analyze my swing right there in the Fitness Center! He was able to give me some suggestions that helped me easily adjust my swing and improve my strength."

~ Hazel S., Fellowship Square resident

STEADI  Fall Prevention Program

Building strength & prolonging independence

The CDC's Injury Center created the STEADI initiative as a coordinated approach to help healthcare providers and senior living communities implement guidelines for fall prevention. In conjunction with the Kinetisense technology, our Well-Being specialists have incorporated the STEADI program methods into their comprehensive fall prevention program.

STEADI consists of three core elements:

  1. Screen participants for fall risk.

  2. Asses changeable risk factors, and

  3. Intervene to reduce risk by using effective strategies.

If a resident's assessment indicates some fall risk factors, the Well-Being team can work with them to address those risks. Improving balance, gait, and mobility is critical in maintaining overall health and prolonging independence.

Fellowship Square University
